Do you live with diabetes, epilepsy, or severe allergies and are considering whether an assistance dog could support you in everyday life?
Our experienced trainers accompany you on this journey and provide you with the necessary knowledge to train your dog yourself. We support you with expertise and empathy and guide you confidently through the training period.
The training includes practical exercises, theory sessions, and online modules. It usually lasts between two and three years. We operate in the canton of Bern and the surrounding area. Each team receives individual support and can complete the curriculum at their own pace.
To successfully complete the training, a suitable dog is required. In the first step, we define together which assistance tasks your dog should be able to perform to support you. This could be, for example, an alert from the dog when blood sugar levels drop, a seizure is imminent, or you need help.
During the course of the training, you will learn to perform these exercises with your dog step by step. We prepare you and your dog to pass the “Public Access Test,” enabling your dog to accompany you wherever possible.
These three assistance dog training programmes are at the forefront of SNIF Dogs Switzerland:
Epilepsy alert dog
These dogs help people with epilepsy and warn them of impending seizures.

Allergy alert dog
These dogs are able to detect allergens in their humans’ food, such as peanuts.
Diabetes alert dog
These dogs are able to detect changes in their partner's blood sugar levels early.

Do you have another condition such as Addison’s disease or narcolepsy? Do you have other special requirements? We are happy to discuss the possibilities with you.
