The SNIF Dogs Switzerland association was founded in 2019.
In its first research project, SNIF Dogs addressed the question of whether dogs, with their keen sense of smell, are able to distinguish urine from people with bladder cancer from that of the healthy control group. The project was carried out as part of a partnership with the Department of Urology at the Inselspital University Hospital in Bern.
Today, SNIF Dogs focuses on the training of assistance and alert dogs that support people with diabetes, epilepsy, allergies and other disabilities in their everyday lives.
The association collaborates with training centres, medical professionals, and research institutions – both domestically and abroad. Raising public awareness of the incredible abilities of these four-legged companions is also a major concern for the SNIF Dogs team.
The association and its innovative projects to promote the human-animal bond are supported, among others, by the Robmar Foundation.
As a non-profit organisation, SNIF Dogs works for a specific purpose and is not profit-oriented.
